After three days of mapping the ESIA system, 25 enthusiastic staff members of NEMA formulated recommendations to improve Ugandan's ESIA practice. For example more attention for review, increasing awareness on ESIA for a wider audience, and more time ánd means for enforcement.

In addition, we provided an introductory training on SEA, since NEMA wants to start with new pilots to speed up SEA practice. The online SEA course for Uganda, which we developed last year, fits very well with this objective. We are now discussing with NEMA and other stakeholders how to optimise alignment of all activities.
