Bilateral agreements for ESIA/SEA cross-border projects

One of the recommendations adopted by the eight WAEMU member states, is that bilateral agreements are a pre-requisite for ESIA/SEA for transboundary projects. In a 5-day workshop facilitated by the NCEA, experts, NGOs, EA agencies, and international donors discussed good practice stakeholder participation and how to improve it in the WAEMU region (Western Africa Economic Monetary Union). The workshop is part of the MoU between the WAEMU and NCEA on harmonisation of EA procedures among the member states.
