Investments in new nuclear energy plants are increasing, after a period in which many old plants were closed. The main reason is the need for a stable base load of electricity production for a future where the dependency on instable solar and wind energy will increase. Impact assessment can have a role in providing facts on the pros and cons of nuclear energy, supporting governments in taking accountable decisions.
The NCEA carried out an independent review of the SESA for the national Nuclear Power Programme.
At the request of Uganda’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development the NCEA reviewed the SEA for the Nuclear Power Programme.
