Recommendations ESIA for East African Crude Oil Pipeline - Uganda

Fort Portal, 1-5 July - The NCEA presented its review findings of the ESIA for the Ugandan part of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). A 1445 km long pipeline intended to transport crude oil from Kabaale in Uganda to the Chongoleani peninsula in Tanzania. Based on our findings, the current ESIA does not provide all the information necessary for sound decision making. We therefore recommended to provide additional information on the 5 key weaknesses and to rewrite the non-technical - and executive summaries.

Although the ESIA report has been improved, we still observed essential shortcomings. In our advice we present our findings and make recommendations for further adjustments.
