Green Hydrogen

Green hydrogen solely makes use of clean energy sources and is therefore carbon neutral. Production of green hydrogen is primarily through wind and solar energy. Areas suitable for green hydrogen production are mainly located in dry areas. It requires large amounts of scarce freshwater, and therefore desalination of saline water is common practice. Desalination results in brine that might cause environmental pollution. SEA and ESIA can help decisionmakers to take these and other consequences into account.
