Cooperation WWF - Paraguay

The NCEA supported an SEA for an Urban Masterplan for Chaco-i (accross the river in Asunción, Paraguay). This was done through capacity building and coaching of the team responsible for the SEA (GEAM/Altervida) at the request of the Ministry of Urbanism, Housing and Habitat. Other governmental and non-governmental entities that have a role in the Masterplan were also involved. WWF Netherlands and WWF-Paraguay support this initiative financially. In September 2025, the NCEA supported a study tour of Paraguayan authorities to the Netherlands in relation to planned interventions in the river to improve navigation and options for considering nature based solutions and ESIA/SEA. This led to a request for a 2 day SEA training in Asunción that will take place in November.  

In addtion, a needs assessment with government & CSO actors was undertaken to identify the government's current and desired situation in relation to SEA/ESIA and identify where the NCEA can have added value.
