7151. Rio Marker Screening of private sector development programmes

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (its department for sustainable economic growth DDE) asked the NCEA's DSU to analyse the portfolio of private sector development (PSD) programmes on their contribution to climate change adaptation/mitigation.

Significant details

Using the climate Rio Markers approach of the Development Assistance Committee of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development), 23 PSD programmes were classified as contributing to climate change adaptation and/or mitigation either principally, significantly or non-climate related. Recommendations were made for increasing the climate contribution of these programmes. The results were presented in an advisory report and in a plenary staff session of DDE.
