WLRC (Water and Land Resource Center) has requested NCEA for a cooperation on the topic of Environmental Assessment in relation to the BRIGHT project. In preparation for the inception phase of BRIGHT project which allows for early and timely integration of SEA activities, WLRC has asked NCEA to initiate an introductory training program on SEA focusing on IWRM and land resource management for their staff and partner organisations.

Significant details

The BRIGHT project is executed by WLRC and funded by the Dutch Embassy. It involves the Ministry of Water & Energy as a lead, as well as the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, 5 Regional Basin Bureaus and others. This SEA training would be the start of a cooperation with WLRC during the inception phase, followed by an MoU, specifying amongst others further more technical training.

BRIGHT: Basin Management Support for Resilient, Inclusive Growth and Harmonized Transformation for the National IWRMP of Ethiopia, aims to improve water management in Ethiopia, promoting sustainable and equitable water use for agriculture, industry and domestic needs in the five major river basins.
WLRC: It has long experience in the areas of water and land resources management in Ethiopia. They are working to become a recognized center of excellence or knowledge-for-development hub on sustainable management of water and land resources.
