Upon request of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) the NCEA, in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Ghana, appraised 12 project proposals on Environmental Impact Assessment requirements in relation to the Ghana WASH Window.

Significant details

With the Ghana WASH Window the Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports public-private projects in the field of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and/or integral water management in Ghana.

The current advice is three-fold, it provides:

  • EIA screening against Ghanaian EIA legislation;

  • advice on legislative and procedural requirements for environmental assessment for the various proposals and how to effectively meet these;

  • where relevant, additional advice on how sustainability issues and environmental and climate risks can be managed in project development and implementation.
