Supporting EA in higher education -Ethiopia

The Hawassa university lies 270 km South of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. It hosts 9 colleges, and our collaboration focuses on the Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources. It was established four decades ago to train forest technicians. At the moment, it serves as a centre for education, training and research in forestry and natural resource management. The college’s dean reached out to the NCEA, to review and help update the curriculum on ESIA and SEA, and to train lecturers on the topic. The currently available courses aim both BSc and MSc students- Ethiopia’s future EA practitioners.
