Our Theory of Change

Together with our partners, we work towards more sustainable development through improvement of  impact assessment systems. To chart how our activities lead to this improvement, we developed a Theory of Change. This overview shows our process from input to long-term impact.

Sustainable development goals
Our activities contribute to the main components of impact assessment systems: the enabling conditions, the capacities of key actors, and ultimately, the SEA and ESIA processes undertaken to support planning at project and strategic levels. We believe that these outcomes lead to more sustainable projects and plans, as well as improved governance. Collectively, in the long term, these outcomes contribute towards achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Systems Approach

To analyse existing ESIA and SEA systems in the countries with whom the NCEA cooperates, and to measure the results of the contribution that the NCEA makes to improving these systems, we have developed a systems approach.
