Revision of ESIA legal framework in Burundi

Bujumbura, Burundi – 21 January 2014. Since April 2014, the NCEA is assisting Burundi’s Ministry for the Environment, MEEATU, with the revision of its legal framework for ESIA. In small steps, this has now lead to a draft chapter on EIA for the new Environment Law. This draft was discussed during a one-day workshop with the NCEAs legal expert and senior MEEATU staff. Next step will be to work on drafting a new decree regulating the EIA procedure.
