Workshop ESIA for the mining sector - WAEMU

The NCEA and IGF organised a workshop on ESIA for mining, for member states of the West-African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). Participants used the Mining ESIA Tool (MET) - developed by IGF and the NCEA in 2020 - to assess strengths and weaknesses of their ESIA system in relation to the mining sector. The results of the workshop form the basis for follow-up activities. ESIA and SEA have much potential in this sector to contribute to sustainable development.
