Sustainability Analysis: looking back on 2023
19 December 2023
At the start of 2023, NCEA launched the Sustainability Analysis Programme, in short: SusAn. What has happened since then?
The aim of SusAn is to make unsolicited analyses of sustainable development dilemmas in the Netherlands that may affect low- and middle income countries. After an inception phase and exploring possible synergies with other DGIS subsidized think tanks, SuSAn has started its first analysis. The title of the analysis is ‘Government capacity to deal with incoherent policies and dilemmas in global value chains’. The working group, existing of four experts, one Technical Secretary, one co-reader, and one Chair, expect to deliver a draft version of the analysis report in the first month of 2024.
At the moment, the NCEA is in the process of screening the feasibility and eligibility of a second Sustainability Analysis. This one, if approved, will dive into responsible minerals governance for the global energy transition. More specifically, it hopes to analyse ways to ensure just and responsible minerals governance in resource rich countries catering for the global energy transition.
