SEA training for Kenya Environment Tribunal
16 January 2017
On January 6 and 7, Rob Verheem of the NCEA gave an SEA training to members of the Kenya National Environment Tribunal. The principal function of the Tribunal is to receive and determine appeals arising from decisions of the National Environment Management Authority, such as decisions on EIA licenses. The need for the training arose from the fact that since 2015 SEA is legally mandatory in Kenya for all policies, plans and programs with significant environmental consequences. Currently, SEA appeals are already brought before the Tribunal.
