SEA introduction in Burundi

Bujumbura, 3-7 February. The NCEA and the environment agency OBPE in Burundi started collaborating on ESIA ten years ago. Due to circumstances, this collaboration was suspended several times. Nevertheless, the cooperation has continued and is even expanding, as now it will include the introduction of SEA. A first introductory workshop on the significance of SEA and its possible contribution to more inclusive and sustainable planning, informed participants about the possible benefits for Burundi. The intention is that after the elections, the Ministry of Planning and the OBPE will jointly organise a seminar for planners to take the introduction of SEA a step further.
