SEA for Sourou development plan, Mali
30 October 2017
The Netherlands Embassy in Mali and the NCEA facilitated a workshop in Mopti to discuss SEA for a development plan in the Sourou area. Decentral and central governments as well as representatives of the private sector and NGOs designed an integrated planning and assessment process with a road map. The Sourou area has one of Mali’s last rich wetlands. Tensions between fishermen, farmers and cattle herders are increasing. This is partly due to climate change and migrants from the unsecure and drought stricken north and inner delta of the river Niger in central Mali.
