SEA conference in Uganda
27 February 2017
The NCEA contributed to Uganda’s first National Conference on SEA by presenting two Dutch SEA cases. The conference took place on 13-17 February and was organised by NEMA and the Ministry of Works and Transport. It raised awareness on SEA of more than 150 participants. The event was also used for stakeholder consultation on the draft updated SEA regulations and guidelines. Participants included officials from key government ministries, NGOs, environmental practitioners, development partners, alumni from the SIDA international training programme on SEA, academia, and the Uganda Association for Environmental Assessors. The NCEA combined this conference with discussions on ESIA/SEA with other partners in Uganda, such as the Oil for Development programme.
