Scoping integrated in EIA legislation Burundi

In January 2013, the Minister for the Environment in Burundi signed a Ministerial Decision ensuring the integration of a scoping phase in the EIA procedure. This decision specifies that scoping takes place on the basis of fixed Terms of Reference, adjusted to the project by the investor, whereupon they get formally approved. During a three-day working session at the Ministry, the NCEA facilitated the drafting of these fixed Terms of Reference. New investments that will need to undergo EIA will now be assessed on the basis of these ToR.
