Regional workshop in Zanzibar on SEA and Marine Spatial Planning

In November, institutions from several countries in the West Indian Ocean region came together in Zanzibar to participate in a workshop on sustainable utilization of marine resources. 

The workshop was part of an International Training Programme, organised by the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and several partners. The NCEA contributed by sharing knowledge about why, how, and when to apply Strategic Environmental Assessment in Marine Spatial Planning. Participating institutions were from Comoro Islands, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Somalia, and United Republic of Tanzania. It was an inspiring week filled with practical learning and exchange of knowledge between the various partners and participants.
