Knowledge exchange on responsible offshore sand sourcing in Vietnam
14 June 2023
Last month, the Vietnam Geology Department in cooperation with the Netherlands Embassy, organised a seminar called ‘Experience sharing and cooperation on the assessments of strategic locations and environmental-social impacts of offshore sand sourcing.’ The NCEA contributed to this seminar by sharing experiences from The Netherlands on SEA and ESIA in relation to sand sourcing activities in the North Sea.
The seminar is the launch of a long-term collaboration between the Netherlands and Vietnam in this area. A delegation from Vietnam signed a cooperation agreement with the Dutch government in The Hague at the end of June, in which knowledge sharing, policy development and practical cooperation on sand mining was an important part. The NCEA will continue to support this cooperation by developing guidelines, conducting workshops and training.
