How effective is EIA in Cameroon and Uganda?
16 July 2014
The Environmental Impact Assessment Enhancement project in Uganda and Cameroon facilitates learning on EIA review systems and practice. It targets EIA professionals and government officials and aims at learning-by-doing through collaborative re-examination of EIA reports from extractive industry projects. In July, the Secretariat for Environmental Assessment in Central Africa (SEEAC) organized the first consultative workshop for this project, together with environmental authorities and associations for impact assessments from the two countries. In the coming months, four reports from each country will be re-examined by a group of national experts. The NCEA acts as independent observer and provides technical support.
