First annual meeting of EIA associations in Central Africa
27 November 2014
It’s been a year! Since the closure of a capacity building programme with the NCEA, national EIA associations in Central Africa and their regional secretariat (SEEAC) organised their first annual meeting and seminar. They were held in Buea, Cameroon, from 10 to 14 November. Central was the role of environmental assessment for integrating emerging themes in decision-making. Themes discussed were climate change/REDD+, green economy, gender equality and HIV/aids. The NCEA particularly appreciated the sustained partnerships with organisations such as UNDP and UNESCO. The latter financed an additional 2-day training course on integration of climate change in environmental assessment.
