A delegation from the National Agency for Support to Rural Development (ANADER) from Ivory Coast visited the NCEA on February 20th. They were joined by the deputy ambassador of Ivory Coast in the Netherlands, and his team.
From the 18th to the 21st of February, ANADER visited the Netherlands to learn more about the Dutch agricultural sector, the seed sector, irrigation schemes and the dairy farmer cooperative[AW1] [LF2] . ANADER are currently dealing with an increase in ESIAs for complex projects such as the production of biofuels and the construction of irrigation schemes. At the same time, they support regional governments in the development of regional development plans, where subjects like water issues, mining, and population growth are factors that require strategic decisions on spatial planning. For these reasons, ANADER wanted to meet with the NCEA.
We introduced the delegation members to the work of the NCEA and shared our knowledge and experiences on environmental assessment. It was an interesting exchange on SEA and ESIA and its application to agricultural projects[AW3] [LF4] [AW5] . ANADER expressed an interest in developing a technical cooperation with the NCEA. They will meet with the National EPA in Ivory Coast, to identify areas of cooperation.
