ESIA for deep sea port in Benin

In November 2016, the Beninese Environment Agency organised an inter-ministerial meeting to discuss the ESIA that would permit the development of a new deep sea port at Sèmè-Podji. The port would be developed in a public-private partnership by the firm Pétrolin and the responsible ministry. The NCEA attended the meeting as independent invitee to explain, where necessary, the review it has published about the ESIA report. The ministries decided to use the NCEA’s review as the basis for their response regarding the ESIA. The ESIA also includes permit conditions.
